Hotel Del Rey fourth of JULY, discount on all girls, 2 for the price of one, just watch your wallet very carfully. Do not walk the streets of San Jose at night drunk, you could end up dead. The bitch is not worth it, unless you think see is. If you meet a girl at the Hotel Del Rey chanches are you just met a prostitute and if she is talking to you there is a 100% chance that see is lying to, in other words when a prostitutes lips are moving she is lying to you. try $40.00 and when she sticks her nose up show her the cash and then settle for $60.00

There are some that are turned off by all the action and loudness that comes from the main floor, but not me. Just try to book a room above the 4th floor if you think the noise might keep you up at night (or bring earplugs to sleep with). I just returned from my 2nd trip there and I will definitely be back again next summer. It's ground zero for all of the action that San Jose , Costa Rica is famous for. The Blue Marlin Bar is loaded with gorgeous girls from varying Latin American countries. But be sure to speak some basic Spanish as many of them do not speak English. The hotel itself is incredibly safe. Armed security guards stand at every door and are throughout the hotel's main floor. They closely screen who enters the hotel and they use metal detecting wands on all of the locals. Once you leave the hotel though, you're fair game to the many beggars and street hustlers that constantly await exiting Americans, especially after dark. The food is above average and very reasonably priced. The rooms are very comfortable and the housekeeping service is excellent. This is not a place to go with your family or a girlfriend. But if you're a single guy who has a thing for Latin women and gambling, go to the Delrey at least once before you're beneath ground!!

it was fun to look at hookers until buses of loud american old men show up. i lost money gambling. the guy waiting outside the door selling cigars is kind of annoying. the rooms have ac and cable and a working safe. the staff speaks english, they have currency exchange for a fair price, close to stuff.
casino and night life

the casino was run as fair as anny casino in the states. and the women were wonderfull we need some ticas in the usa.
nothing to dislike , good value food, and good gambling tables, fear one arm bandets, a lively and exciting place. Very good bar staff, very likeable young ladies that give a a very good servers to male customers, and do not try to rip off. It all the hotel, is a fun filled get away from an otherwise drab city
Nice locateion, Rooms were stuffy

The location was convenient and had a casion if that is your thing. I didn't eat at the restaurant, seemed a little overpriced. They were very helpful cashing Am-Ex travelers checks and gave a fair rate of exchange in colones. The room I was in was stuffy and not well ventilated. It had and compimentary digital safe which was nice. It was a fair average value overall.

The Hotel Del Rey and the Blue Marlin Bar are well known for the wide range of women who hang out there. With that being said, the hotel itself is a fantastic place to stay. The room are clean and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is better than average and with the strong dollar a good value for sure. Drink prices are very reasonable. A bottle of Imperial beer came out to $2.12 while a Bacardi and Coke was about $2.55. Keep in mind, these are hotel bar prices! You'll never find that kind of vale here in the States. Guys, this is one of the better places to stay in San Jose if you are a gambler or a girl watcher. Good luck and happy hunting.

Like many others have said - this place AIN'T for kids ( or families ). It is FULL of hot Latin girls, but even if you don't go for that reason, the environment is very free and open which is something we don't have nearly enough of here in the States. Just going , having some drinks , doing a litle gambling and people watching is an experience before you set off for the beach!!!
