Judicial police raided what they called two hidden prostitution locations in the downtown and on Avenida 10. Both operations were run by the same owner, said unofficial reports. One operation was hidden behind a massage parlor front, a report said.
Usually prostitution raids result in the closing of a business for a day or two, but this owner may have plenty to worry about. Agents reported that they found a 16-year-old working as a prostitute in one of the locations. If true, that would be a major crime.

By Grisel Bethancourt for the Panama America News - The office of Immigration in Panama has granted between 400 to 500 "alternadora" visas in the past few months, and that the girls are currently in the country. Immigration director Ricardo Vargas said that at the next debate over the bill that would regulate immigration activity that the discusison over the issuance of visas should be extensive. With regards to recent complaints from the United States with regards to human trafficking, he said they are working hard and making headway for the state.

Now I have to go back to the guy at immigration who told me (with a straight face) that "no, the Director has not allowed any new alternadoras to come in, he's only been managing the problem he inherited when he took over the office." LA DIRECCION de Migración ha otorgado en los últimos meses entre 400 a 500 visas a alternadoras extranjeras que se encuentran en el país.
El director de la entidad, Ricardo Vargas, explicó que en la próxima discusión del proyecto de ley que regula la actividad migratoria, la expedición de visas merecerá una amplia discusión.
Sobre las críticas al manejo de la trata de personas afirmó que hay un esfuerzo y avances por parte del Estado.
